Become a driving instructor
in Market Harborough.
Join our small team and build your own successful driving instructor career.
Training to become a driving instructor may not be as difficult as you think. With three main steps to becoming an ADI, you could build a rewarding career, enjoy the freedom of becoming your own boss and have the support of a small, dedicated team every step of the way.
Why become a driving instructor with CDT?
From driving instructor to business owner
‘Complete Driving Tuition’ has been established in Market Harborough for around 6 years, and has grown from a one-instructor business into a small team of instructors serving learners across Market Harborough, Leicestershire and surrounding areas.
When I first became a driving instructor, I worked for a large franchise. While it gave me the opportunity to get started, I quickly realised that the support and flexibility available to instructors didn’t always match what I wanted from my career.
That’s what lead me to start Complete Driving Tuition in Market Harborough. I wanted to build a driving school where instructors could have the freedom of being their own boss, while still having the support of a small team around them.
This is where I decided to make a change.
I bought my own car, started to source my own pupils and created my own company (CDT), and never looked back.
One of the things I truly love is the independence the job comes with, whilst being able to choose when and where I worked, how much I charge and when I take holiday.
A few years ago, my friend Alex was looking for a change in career. Having worked together previously, we started talking about the possibility of him becoming a driving instructor and joining CDT.
I supported Alex through his ADI training, helping him prepare for each stage of the qualification. He went on to pass his part 1, part 2 and part 3 tests first time.
Alex is now a fully qualified ADI and a valued member of the CDT team, teaching learners in Rugby.
Seeing someone you’ve helped train go on to build a career of their own is one of the most rewarding parts of running CDT.
Small by choice!
We’re deliberately keeping CDT small. We don’t want to become another huge franchise where instructors feel like a number. We want to work with the right people and provide genuine support throughout their career.
You’ll have direct access to an ADI, someone you can actually pick the phone up to when you need advice, rather than being left to figure everything out yourself.

If you follow this link you’ll find out all the information you need on becoming a driving instructor but here are the main points.
You need to be 21 or over, holding your full license for over 3 years. No bans or disqualifications within 4 years, under 5 penalty points, and you must be able to pass a DBS check.
Once your DBS is complete, we can get your theory test underway, where we can help, monitor and prepare you via our free online training.
Next up is your practical driving test where you’ll be examined by a third party examiner, passing this means scoring less than 6 faults throughout the drive.
And finally, your third test, the instructional ability test, where an examiner will watch you teach a lesson to a real-life pupil for 1 hour.
Once completed, you’ll be a fully qualified driving instructor.
Of course, you’ll have more questions, but if you’re interested in becoming an instructor and joining our team, fill out the adjacent form and we’ll get in touch soon.
